VNUS Closure and NICE
VNUS closure is very new. I have been presenting my figures both Nationally and Internationally since April 1999. On 24th September 2003, NICE (the National Institute of Clinical Excellence) reported on VNUS Closure under the title : "Radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins".

The Guidance they produced states:
"Current evidence on the safety and efficacy ..." "... appears to support the use of this procedure ..."

I have not quoted more due to the fact this is copyright to NICE. However you can read the full documents on the links:

- Firstly: NICE guidance is clear that the evidence supports the use of VNUS Closure as an alternative to open surgery.

- Secondly: The Whiteley Clinic conforms to the required standards of consent, audit and clinical governance.

Finally, despite the reservations about the lack of long term data, we have already presented our 4 year data that shows the recurrence rate is about 1 tenth of that of open surgery - answering this worry.
